Learning to Trust God

3 Reasons You Can Fully Trust God No Matter What Life Throws Your Way

Trust.

That is a word we are all re-evaluating in this season. If not in our lives, we are looking at trust with a fresh set of eyes in our society and families. Our lives, for the better part of 2020, have come to look very different than when the calendar rolled around to January of this year.

Our trust in a bunch of things has changed. Our trust in the government, our bodies, our friends, our local surroundings, each other, groups, church…

All changed.

We have never felt more shaky and unstable than we do now.

But there’s one thing that remains unchanged.

God.

You may be one of the millions of people asking questions about yourself, your life, and your future. All of it can be based on trust.

How has your trust changed this year? What are you trusting in that gives you a different view of life?

I know we all say God, but do you really trust in Him? A lot of people have been re-evaluating their look at God, their relationship with God, and their hearts towards Him, and their own lives.

I want to give you three reasons why you can fully trust God, even in this upside-down season. Three reasons that will keep you going no matter what happens around you, to you, or in-spite of you.

3 Reasons You Can Fully Trust God

1.) God Knows The Plans He Has For You.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

It is in this verse that you can fully rest that God knows what He has planned.

You don’t have to have a plan.

You don’t have to know what’s coming.

You only have to trust that He has a plan and it is good! That plan contains no harm to you and that plan gives you hope and a future.

2.) He Is Always With You.

“…and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:20

Now I don’t know about you, but I am so thrilled to know that I have the best bodyguard ever. If you know that you are never alone, never without a bodyguard, a best friend, and someone that has your back—you never fear. No matter how bad it gets, or how bad you get, God never leaves you.

3.) God Knows Your Name.

“Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name”.

Psalms 91:14

You are not a stranger to God. You are never unseen or unknown by Him. God knows your name. He knows you.

We like to keep our names from certain people. We don’t want them to know who we are, but God sets His love on you and says “I know you and I need you to know Me.” He sets His love on you so you know He knows you and loves you.

Life Happens, But God Is Good

Wow! These are powerful reasons to trust in God even in these chaotic times. Trust in Him and never lose hope that He knows you, He loves you, and He sees you.

During the pandemic and quarantine of 2020 there were days that I felt crazy–lots of them. I felt as though God wasn’t around. That He didn’t see us and we were all alone.

I worried about the future.

I wondered about the present.

But that was the enemy trying to get me to doubt our wonderful God. I had to remind myself of these verses. Same as you.

Yes, it may feel hopeless… but it is not.

Yes, it may feel lonely… but you are not alone.

It may feel like the whole planet doesn’t know what to do… but we do.

Trust.

Trust in our God.

He never leaves us.

And we are never without hope.

  1. I think one of the things that’s so helped me parent all these boys with all these different personalities – is that God’s got the plan – and He put all the individual stuff in each boy – so He knows what needs doing – and once I grabbed hold of that – and trusted that, I felt a huge burden lifted off me! Thanks for sharing your wisdom! Good stuff!
