A Scripture To Trust God When You’re Afraid
Do you struggle with fear?
Do you avoid certain situations because of those fears?
One of the things I dread the most is going to the dentist. The very thought of going to the dentist makes me anxious and fearful, but God is teaching me no matter how big or small the situation He is always with me; and if He did it for me I know He will do it for you.
This past weekend I broke a tooth eating ice cream!
Seriously, who breaks a tooth on ice-cream?
A Scripture to Trust God
I have an extreme fear of the dentist stemming from bad childhood experiences. I was already feeling anxious about sitting in the dentist chair even as I picked the phone to call them.
I whispered a prayer to help prepare myself mentally and spiritually for my appointment. My heart raced and I felt like I was that fearful 8-year-old little girl again.
But as I sat in the chair praying for peace, God brought this scripture to mind…
But when I am afraid,Psalm 56:3-4
I will put my trust in you.
I praise God for what he has promised.
I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?
What can mere mortals do to me?
I wasn’t captured by the Philistines and worried for my life like David was, but through David’s words I found great comfort as I sat in the dentist chair.
Trust in the Lord
David put his complete trust in the Lord and in His promises.
God was asking me to do the same.God was asking me to put my complete trust in the Lord and in His promises. Click To Tweet
My dentist was kind, patient, and understanding. I’m still recovering, but I made it through the procedure with a great sense of peace.
There are many fears each of us are face every day, but no matter what our fear is, with God we can face them all. Whenever you struggle with a fear remember this scripture and say a prayer like David did “When I am afraid of ___________ ( fill in your own fear) I will trust in you, God!
I hope this will encourage you when you are called to face your fears.
