3 Things To Remember When Sharing Your Testimony

The book of Revelations says the blood of the Lamb and the angels’ testimony will defeat Satan in the last days. As a writer, I am inspired and empowered knowing that Jesus’ sacrifice empowers my words to defeat hell and bondage in my reader’s lives.

I know sharing your testimony can make you feel exposed. I even wrote about that here. In this post, I want to share what I learned about the power of a testimony this week, even as my heart races.

On Tuesday, I learned that the rare brain disease I had a few years ago caused measurable permanent cognitive brain damage. I’ve known for several years that something wasn’t right, but my test scores were low. Shockingly low. I have definite limitations.

The tests validated many struggles over the last 5 years, but those scores… I can’t even tell you how broken and dumb I really am. You won’t understand.

In the past, struggling with cognitive issues without Jesus took me to a very dark place, so despite the embarrassment, on Wednesday I reached out to Christian women I knew would point me to Jesus.

3 Things To Remember When Sharing Your Testimony

I learned 3 things as they lifted me up with scriptures and their own testimonies.

  1. You are never alone.
  2. People will understand.
  3. God will equip you to do exactly as He’d planned and created for you to do. No matter how broken you are.

By Wednesday evening, I was in a brighter place. Still confused, not done crying yet, but brighter.

Today I share this little testimony knowing that you do understand, because Candidly Christian is a place where we are never alone, and Jesus is always enough.

As a host of the Grace & Truth Link Up, I chose my friend, Sarah Geringer’s, post containing encouragement and practical tips about sharing your testimony. I especially love that her tips make a prayer sandwich and I couldn’t wait to partner Sarah’s words with mine to empower you to share one of your own stories of God’s love in your life.

My friends, if you read her post, I hope you too will give love to loneliness, light to darkness and God’s peace to chaos.

  2. Valerie – Our minds were on the same path. I picked Sarah’s post, too, as my featured post.

I have been short on time like everybody else, so I hadn’t had a chance to read your post this week. Today God kept pulling me over to Candidly Christian, and I am so glad He did. I am praying for you. Thank you for sharing a little bit of your story. I love the advice your wise friends gave you.

Please keep asking for prayer, and if you ever want another prayer person, please don’t hesitate to email me. Emails I don’t miss, but post I sometimes do.

    Blessings to you,

    Maree
