When Trouble Comes…
Cast your burden on the Lord, [release it] and he will sustain and uphold you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken (slip, fall, or fail).
Psalm 55:22 AMP
A close friend once asked me how I can have peace over a hard situation because we share similar circumstances.
“I pray it away,” I told her, and then realized how trite that sounds to someone who is hurting.
So I confessed, “Sometimes I don’t have peace at all. I had a few bad days recently. But when that happens, it doesn’t last as long or get as bad because I take it to Jesus.”
Jesus promised we will have trouble in this world, so struggles aren’t a matter of if, but when. Psalm 55:22 reminds us of Jesus’ promise to be there for the ones He made righteous on the cross. When you lay your burdens at the cross of the one who overcame the world, your hurt can’t overcome you. The one who carried the cross also carries your pain and lifts you up.

Jesus, I’m carrying a heavy load today. It’s too heavy for me, but not for You. I lay this burden down at Your feet, Lord. I surrender my fears and hurt to You. Thank you for making me righteous and for lifting me up. Amen.
