What does the Bible say about sharing God’s Word? That’s what Heather is looking at in this post.
“There is no [justifiable reason] to constantly bombard people with the Bible and shove scripture down other people’s throats.”
While she meant those words as a personal reflection, she posted them on Facebook and they felt like a slap in the face—just as Satan intended them to.
Because here’s the thing: God has called me to live for Jesus. Specifically, He has called me to point other Christian women to Jesus. …And the main way I do that is online.
I share Scriptures on social media, reflections from my time in God’s Word, and blog posts about how I’ve seen Him move in my life. I write devotions that are designed to remind women that while life is hard, God is still good.
Full disclosure: More often than not, I feel like a failure. I feel defeated by chronic migraines and worthless as a witness. And Satan uses comments like hers, to make me question my calling.

God didn’t let me go too far down that road before He started reminding me of what He has to say on the matter.

1.) Jesus Told Us To Go Tell the World About Him
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20
The last thing Jesus said before ascending into heaven ways “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to every creature” (Mark 16:15). We refer to it as the great commission and social media (well, the internet in general) has made that easier to do than ever. If we asked Jesus if we should share the good news on social media, I have no doubt His answer would be a resounding yes.
2.) How Can People Know Jesus, If We Don’t Tell Them About Him?
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
Romans 10:13-15
Several years ago, one of my friends was sending her teenage daughter on a mission trip that had the potential to become dangerous. The missionaries would be passing through an area that didn’t like Christians (to put it mildly). Someone asked her why she was willing to let her daughter take that risk, and she answered with Romans 10:13-15. “How can they believe if they don’t hear, and how can they hear if we don’t go?”
That response struck a chord deep in my heart and has stuck with me for years. People need to hear. Not just people in the far recesses of the world, but the women on social media. Women who feel alone in their struggles. Christian women trying to live up to impossible standards. Stay-at-home-moms looking for any type of grown-up interaction. We all need more Jesus in our days.
Even me.
Especially me.
And one of the ways I get encouragement from other Christian women is through social media. So why would I withhold that from my friends and followers?
3.) Be Prepared to Share the Word of God at All Times
Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
2 Timothy 4:2-5
In Paul’s second letter to Timothy, he implored him to preach the Word. To always be ready to tell people about the good news. Always.
He went so far as to say that doing the work of an evangelist was how to fulfill his ministry. And those weren’t just for Timothy. All of us are called to share God’s Word. To tell others about Jesus. Because when we pass from this life to the next, everything else will fall away. We will stand before the judgement seat of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:10) and answer for how we handled the Word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15).
4.) We Are Ambassadors For Jesus
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:20
Paul asked the people of Ephesus to pray for Him to open his mouth “boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which [he was] an ambassador in chains” (Ephesians 6:19-20). And in 2 Corinthians he wrote that we are all ambassadors for Christ. Therefore, we should proclaim the gospel just as boldly.
5.) Don’t Hide Your Light
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16
Jesus came to earth as the light of the world (John 9:5), and when we become His children, we are given His light. A light that He commands us to shine before others, so they can see the goodness of God. It’s why we were created (Genesis 1:27).
Ephesians 2:10 tells us, “we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
We were created to display God’s glory. To point others to Him. We can’t do that if we hide the truth of Christ from those we interact with (online or off).

Reflecting Jesus
The day after I read that post on Facebook, a friend sent me this text:
“You ”reflect” Him so beautifully Heather…even through the pain.”
She had no idea I was having this spiritual battle, but was faithful when God prompted her to write those words to me.
And that’s what matters, isn’t it? Simply being faithful to what God has called us to do.
God has called me to be His witness, and no matter what anyone else is going through, I have to be faithful to that calling.
Yes, I can and do pray for my friends. I pray that they would know the love of Jesus and experience that love in the depths of their souls. I can pray that God uses my words and my author platform to point women back to Him. But then I have to keep moving forward as He has called me to do.
