Do you have trouble falling asleep at night?
Would you be surprised to learn that this is a common struggle among women? In 2002 the National Sleep Foundation did a survey that found 63% of women suffered from insomnia.
That’s a lot of tired ladies.

I used to have trouble sleeping. Like, a lot of trouble. But over the past couple of years, I have been able to overcome.
The main thing that kept me awake was replaying conversations from the day over and over again in my head. Beating myself up for things I thought I did wrong or said wrong. Areas where I failed.

If I didn’t finish my to do list, I would stress over it.
Sometimes I would go back even further. Like that time in high school when I failed to share the gospel when one of my friends specifically asked me how to become a Christian. But I was in a hurry and didn’t take the time to stop and to lead Him to Jesus.
Other times I would stress about the future. Things that were yet to come. How were we going to afford that car repair? I needed to have a conversation I didn’t want to have.
Whatever it was it would eat me up and keep me awake.
Even just remembering makes my stomach churn.

Jennifer compiled a list of a dozen strategies that help her fall asleep. Some of them are strategies I have used myself. Others are ones I have recently heard doctors recommend (I see a lot of doctors).

I have started to listen to a quiet audiobook – helps still my mind and I fall asleep so much faster! 😉
Yes! I do that sometimes as well. Playing some praise and worship music, or listening to an audiobook or audio Bible really helps.
