Grace & Truth for Quiet Time Distractions

One of my favorite things to do is read my Bible aloud.

Not like to anyone. Just to myself.

I love hearing the Word of God. Putting inflection into it.

There’s just something about speaking it aloud that makes it come alive for me.

During the school year when I’m home alone, I’ll carry my Bible around, while walking in circles around my living room, dining room, and kitchen. Reading God’s Word aloud and getting in some quality steppage for my FitBit challenges. There may or may not be hand gestures involved.

You may think I’m weird, and that’s totally okay.

But something about it just draws me closer to Jesus.

Sometimes when I’m sitting quietly with my Bible and my head is hurting, it’s hard to stay focused. But when I’m walking around, actively engaging with God’s Word, distraction doesn’t come easy.

Quiet Time Distractions & 9 Ways To Engage With Scripture

I don’t know if you ever get distracted when you’re reading God’s Word. But if I had to guess, I would say it’s a pretty common struggle. And that’s why when I came across Deborah’s post last week, I knew it was one I had to share.

Deborah wrote about nine creative ways to engage with God’s Word.

  1. I love this!!! I like to put on the Bible audiobook and listen while I am doing housework. I think I am going to try reading some out loud. 😉 Blessings.

    1. Thanks, April! On bad migraine days I listen to the audio Bible app on my phone because any reading just isn’t an option. I love all the options we have available to us. Thanks for stopping in.

  2. YES! I need my quiet time. As an introvert, taking time for myself to decompress is really important… I’ve learned that I can’t best serve God if I’m running on an empty tank.

    Love and blessings!
