Frazzled by Life

When was the last time you felt frazzled?

That’s where I’m at right now.

I have a decent amount of things I should be doing, but one thing went wrong and it left me feeling frazzled. Which eats up my brainpower and keeps me from focusing on anything else.

Have you ever been there?

Truth be told, it’s not the first time for me. There was the time I almost stepped on a rattlesnake. The time I didn’t plan ahead… and really, probably too many other times to count.

Life happens, and sometimes it gets us frazzled. It shakes us up.

What Do You Do When Life Leaves You Frazzled?

The question is, what do we do when we become frazzled? Do we let our day spiral out of control, or do we take our trouble to the foot of the cross?

Too often for me, my day spirals. I let my frazzled feelings overwhelm me and take control of my day. Instead of turning to Jesus, I turn on the T.V. and try to distract myself from my problems.

Do you ever do that?

Instead of facing something head on, you turn tail and run?

That’s what I wanted to do today.

I made a mistake (a big one) and it left me feeling frazzled, and I wanted to run and hide. I wanted to ignore the problem. Okay, I wanted to fix the problem, but that wasn’t a possibility, so the next best thing was to run and hide.

However, that wasn’t what God wanted for me.

Frazzled Feelings and Unfazed Faith

God wanted me to bring my problems to Him. He wanted my frazzled feelings, because He wasn’t frazzled a bit.

Isn’t that a great reminder?

No matter how shaken we are by life, our circumstances don’t surprise God, and neither does our reaction to them.

God knows the end from the beginning, and He knows our hearts.

That single truth brings peace to my soul.

In the midst of the chaos of life, God is steady and sure.

Which is why we can always find rest for our souls when we turn to Jesus (instead of the T.V.)

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Matthew 11:29

What do you do when life leaves you feeling frazzled? Do you cling to your faith, or are you like me and flip on the TV?

  1. There are times I also turn on the TV and just zone out when frazzled. And then when that is to no avail, I turn to worship music and my Bible because that truly is the only place I find rest for my frazzled soul and mind. As I grow older, I am turning to the TV less, and am grateful for the Lord’s patience with me in learning this 🙂

  2. Thank you, Heather, I often do everything BUT go to Jesus with my frazzled feelings. I eventually get there but try numbing out with some other distraction first. How much time and frustration would be saved if I just came to Him first!
