Grace and Truth and My Favorite Thing About God
What is your favorite thing about God?
That’s a paraphrased version of a question I came across while reading through posts this week.
And, while normally I would roll my eyes at a question like that, and say I could never pick just one thing, I knew. Before I even finished reading the rest of the question, I knew my answer.
I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done…
Isaiah 46:9b-10a
For he looks to the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens.
Job 28:24
Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.
Psalm 147:5
God.
Knows.
Everything.
I take so much comfort in that. He knows what’s coming before it happens, and He knows how each situation is going to end. And I can rest knowing that He has it under control. He wasn’t surprised.

You simply can’t catch God off guard. It’s not possible.
He will never say, “I know it looks bad, but we’ll work through it.” He doesn’t have to pretend to be positive. Because He already knows. And sometimes it is bad, but we can trust that He will be right there with us every single moment. He knew it was coming, and He knows how to get us through it, as long as we stick by His side.
I can’t even express how much comfort I find in that. Because the truth is, life is hard. I get caught off guard a lot. I couldn’t even start to name some of the issues that caught me off guard this week alone. But through them all, I knew God was way ahead of me.
I remember sitting with my Bible one night in tears because I didn’t know what coming. It was a scary situation, and I was on the outside. I knew kind of what was going on, but I was waiting for news. So I was trying to pray, and all I could think of was how thankful I was that God already knew this was coming. And come what may, He had a plan. And somewhere in that plan, we would find a way to give Him glory. After that, it didn’t seem to be so scary anymore. And by the time my husband got home with an update, he never even knew how shaken I was by the whole thing.
God. Is. Good.
And He’s got this. Whatever this is on any given day. He knew it was coming, and He knows where it’s going to go from here. I am so thankful for that.
God's got this. Whatever "this" is on any given day. Click To TweetToday’s Featured Post
I suppose that I should tell you that Karen ‘Girl’ Friday wrote that post that inspired my musings above. She shared 32 attributes of God, and then at the end of her post, she asked, “Which one do you celebrate most about God?”

God Only Knows
Here’s one more Bible verse about God’s knowledge, along with a song by For King And Country:
By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him; for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.
1 John 3:19-20

If you enjoy studying the attributes of God, I highly recommend picking up a copy of my mom’s book, My God Is... Not just because she’s my mom (unless that’s a good reason for you), but because her book takes you through over 80 attributes of God, using Scripture references and reflections to make them personal. You can find it on Amazon here.
Amen to that. God’s got this and it didn’t take Him by surprise. How often I need to be reminded of that very truth!
Beautiful intro, wonderful and comprehensive featured post and one of my favorite songs! Thank you ladies ?
