A Speaking Faith

Did you know that faith speaks? Sometimes, the simple things in life can be the most crucial to survival. Speaking faith is a great principle to learn. 

This simple yet profound principle in the Word of God when forgotten can take us off course and we find ourselves on a road of frustration, pain and oppression.  Why? All because we forgot the simple things. Are you in that place now? 

One of those areas I wanted to share with you about in this blog is the area of thoughts and what I call speaking faith.

We think we can’t control what we say or think, but we can to a large degree. But, if nothing else we can control what we do with the thoughts we think, if we are aware.

Depression and Faith

I don’t know how many of you have ever suffered depression to any degree. You have read me talk about it in this blog site. But if you have been in depression, you know that it is a vicious spirit and hard to break free from. You can, however, be free by the power of the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit you can rise above depression. But depression brings such a burden of oppression in the soul that for a lot of people it can make them silent. Sometimes even the Christian. 

Depression makes you listen to the thoughts the enemy gives you about you and your situation and you then turn inward and become silent. Worn out with the oppressive thoughts you stop fighting them and dangerously stop talking. And, silence is not a good thing for a Christian to be when fighting against depression.

Who Are You Listening To?

One of the reasons, and there are many, you feel so burdened and oppressed is that you believe the lies the enemy is saying. Well, here is a newsflash for some of you. The devils, Satan, and his minions DO NOT KNOW the future. They are not everywhere all the time like God. They are not mind readers. They do not know what you are thinking. If you really get this, it should set you free in this one area. 

When that voice speaks to you and tells you about your future, or this will happen and that will happen and this is what you will be like, this is what you will experience or receive, etc. NO NO NO NO!!! They don’t know that. The kingdom of darkness has no idea of your future. They don’t know what you will do, or God will do in the next five minutes. They don’t even know what the sinner or the rebellious person they are controlling and oppressing will do. 

They are at a great disadvantage. But this is where speaking faith comes in. 

Speak Faith

When I heard this truth for the thousandth time, it set me free. Because I was feeling and allowing so much oppression in my life, because the voice in my head was telling me what my life would be like and how God wasn’t faithful. But in my heart, I knew that can’t be right. The two didn’t agree.

Have you noticed that the enemy is very concerned about words. Why? Because he understands how the word of God works. He understands that if he can get you to speak wrong, anti-word talk, no faith will come and faith is the key to defeating him.

God’s words are very critical to your faith and connecting with God’s power.  Words of unbelief cut off and kill the power of God. When you take God’s Word for something and believe it for yourself, the faith which belongs to God Himself comes into you.  Faith is the original creative power, and it can change all the things you SEE because His word created everything you actually SEE.

Romans 10:8-10

…The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Faith Is…

Faith is always in two places– in the heart and in the mouth. When I was in depression I had it in my heart but not in my mouth–consistently.

So now do you see why in depression its dangerous to be silent concerning the word of God.

Even in times of depression your faith must speak. We can either choose to speak positive life words or death filled words. Words are containers and if you have been in a habit of speaking negative…you will have to put forth EFFORT and discipline to speak the life words. 

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. – Romans 10:17 KJV

Just let that scripture sink in. Faith to believe whatever you need to believe will COME when you hear the word of God. But you must hear it. But to hear it you must speak it. 

Faith speaks. You need to hear the word of God come out your own mouth and back into your ears so faith will increase.

My Story

When I was severely depressed, I was dancing before the Lord at home at night, I was praying, I was singing, I was obeying God and scripture, I was going to church and small group, I was watching Christian tv and video sermons. I was a bible school student and was even studying the word regularly. I was reading great material. I was even sitting with my bible, in my lap, reading it and when I got to good scriptures that spoke to me I said within myself “that is good, that is a good verse”.  But I was NOT speaking it.

I was not saying that same scripture that was a key to my healing emotionally or my situation daily. 

I had to learn to speak the word again like my former days.  So, I began slowly, and it was a challenge, but I did. 

So… speaking faith is very important.  Even though it seems to be a simple thing, don’t let it slip. Don’t ever stop speaking the word of God over your life so faith will become hope which is the substance of that thing you are waiting for, desiring and need changed. But do it without wavering. Let no one stop you, not even you. Your battle is won in what you say, all the time, consistently.
